Board explains whole-grade sharing as a consolidation option

Katie Tewold explained one consolidation option under discussion is whole-grade sharing, saying, "whole grade sharing would be we would take an entire grade level...and we would potentially move those students to another district, and that district may send another grade level to our district." She used a hypothetical example of sending fourth grade to a neighboring district while receiving fifth grade in return and described whole-grade sharing as allowable under state law though not commonly implemented in Wisconsin.
The board asked for community perspectives on consolidation questions including partner districts, timing and approaches to positioning Siren for potential consolidation. Tewold emphasized that no decision would be made at this meeting and that the board is collecting community input to evaluate feasibility and next steps.
