Pleasant Grove adopts fee increase for Funshine Learning Center

Assistant Recreation Director Shawn Whitaker presented staff analysis that the Funshine Learning Center fees have not kept pace with supply and staffing costs and recommended increases so the program remains financially sustainable while staying affordable for families. The Council heard comparisons with neighboring cities (American Fork $105–$158; Orem $175; Lehi $86–$144) and noted the City subsidizes the program.
Mayor Guy Fugal opened the public hearing and received no public comment. Council Member Williams, who has experience in early childhood education, said the program remains inexpensive compared with similar offerings. Council Member Williams moved to adopt Resolution 2025-10 amending the consolidated fee schedule; Council Member Jensen seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The new fees adopted were: three- and four-year-olds $100; pre-kindergarten two days $125; pre-kindergarten three days $150, effective before Fall registration.
