Police Chief Keldon Brown introduced Trent College, who was promoted to the rank of Captain and brings nearly two decades of experience including service in Orem and Tooele departments. Chief Brown said Captain College “might be present at some of the future City Council Meetings” as the department coordinates coverage for multiple June events including the Cook Family Park opening and Strawberry Days.
Chief Brown also told the Council about staffing challenges: two recruits are currently in the academy and there is another opening after that; he expects additional retirements in the next two to six months, which will create challenges for recruitment and replacement. He described operational responses, including focusing patrol coverage on the Murdock Trail to manage e-bike speed and safety for mixed users.
