The Nye County Water District Governing Board voted unanimously to approve a tentative budget for fiscal year 2024–25 at its Aug. 13 meeting after staff presented a summary of last year’s revenues and expenses.
The manager said the district received $329,250 last year, spent $129,383.84 and carried over $136,867. For FY24–25 the manager’s contract increase to $70,000 was highlighted as the principal driver raising expenses; staff presented a projection that would produce an estimated carryover of roughly $71,867. “What this all when you do the simple math on this, what happened here is we received $329,250. We spent $129,383.84. The total carryover is $136,867,” the manager said while walking through the backup materials. The county controller, Helen Bey, explained multi‑year contract accounting for a $285,000 contract with DRI and how carryforwards are journaled annually.
