CRA manager requests increased funding for rehab program, cites parking and blight fixes

CRA Manager Lekia Johnson told the board staff is seeing continued demand for the Residential Rehabilitation Program and recommended the Board consider increasing program funding during the upcoming budget process. Staff reported approximately 46 approved applicants currently being served and an additional waiting list of about 20 applicants.
Johnson also requested that the CRA add funding for parking and paving north and south of Broadway, rear parking and alleyway improvements, dumpster enclosures, and standardized backflow preventers and closers to remove blight and provide uniform access to commercial areas. No formal action or vote occurred at the July 14 meeting; staff said the items would be considered during the budget process.
