Consultant, board agree on 21-question format for superintendent interviews

The board and its consultant agreed on a structured interview approach: seven categories with six questions each, from which the board will pick three per category to form a 21-question first-round packet.
"What we wanna do is select 3 questions from each category, so we'll have a total of 21 questions that we'll ask in the 1st round," consultant John Silveri told the board as he outlined logistics. He said board members would be assigned categories and asked to read their assigned questions verbatim during interviews.
Board members then proceeded category by category — opening, district relations, political awareness, leadership attributes, instruction and curriculum, finances, and staff and personnel — choosing the question numbers they wanted included. Silveri said he would assemble the selected questions, assign categories to members and forward a finalized packet ahead of interviews.
The format is intended to standardize interview responses and make comparative evaluation easier; the board agreed the same questions would be asked of every candidate in the first round.
