City Administrator Scott Darrington told the Council that staff negotiated with Republic Services (Allied Waste Services) to reduce the collection-rate proposal and recommended a five-year extension of the contract. Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2025-016 to extend the solid waste and recycling collection agreement.
Administrator Darrington said the City had a long relationship with the provider and that, while occasional service issues occur, overall performance has been satisfactory. Republic Services' local representative, Mark Sherwood, was present at the meeting to answer questions. The extension aims to lock in lower rates negotiated during the review period and provide continuity for residents' garbage and recycling service.
