Board approves Safe School Action Plan and Comprehensive Safety Plan

The Calipatria Unified Board approved both the Safe School Action Plan for 2024–25 and the district's 2024–25 Comprehensive School Safety Plan at its Feb. 11 meeting. The Comprehensive School Safety Plan approval cited Education Code requirements and the plan is posted on the district website for public review.
During reports, Trustee Frank Perez raised campus safety concerns and asked that the district execute and practice safety drills annually; Trustee Diego Navarro questioned prior radio purchases for staff communication. District staff noted Cal/OSHA COVID-19 prevention rules and federal funding overviews were part of the superintendent's report. The Safe School Action Plan and comprehensive plan approvals each passed by roll-call votes of 7 ayes.
The Board's approvals satisfy the annual review requirement for school safety plans and allow staff to move forward with implementation and any required public posting or reporting.
