"We as a council are going to instruct the city secretary to post interim city manager tomorrow on the website," the mayor said, adding the council wants applicants to submit materials so the council "can look at your applications, and we want to do the right thing." The mayor said there would be no expenditure or immediate personnel action taken at the special meeting.
The executive session was held under the Texas Open Meetings Act authority for personnel matters. The mayor said the council will revisit the posted job description, adjust application requirements if needed and review candidate submissions before the August decision. The council also signaled it will rely on existing city staff to maintain day-to-day operations while the search proceeds.
No motion or vote was recorded in the public meeting; the council described the outcome as an instruction to post the position and schedule candidate review for the August meeting.
