The board received a series of facilities updates covering concrete, roofing, ventilation and security projects and took action on several repair contracts at its Sept. 9 meeting. Maintenance Supervisor B. Saiza reported that BYMS concrete cleanup is underway and that a security gate installation at Grace Smith School has concrete and conduit work finished, though equipment has not yet arrived.
The board approved a Johnson Controls quote up to $10,000 to repair CHS fire alarm wiring and later approved a Johnson Controls quote up to $39,000 to repair the Grace Smith School fire control panel. The board also approved a Triad Security Services contract to provide security at Calipatria High School and Bill E. Young Middle School for the 2024–25 school year.
Trustees discussed material backorders affecting the air-vent improvements (tile on backorder) and a roof project with Pay Application #6 under staff review; a motion to deny Pay Application #6 for Roof Construction in the amount of $15,428 was recorded and carried by roll call. The packet notes that pay application documents remain under review by the district.
