Erath County Commissioner's Court approved a proclamation recognizing National Health Center Week for Aug. 2'8, 2026 and celebrated the role of community health centers in providing primary and preventive care.
Esther Taylor, CEO of Excel Health, addressed the court after the proclamation reading and thanked commissioners for the recognition. "We serve 1 in 5 uninsured and 1 in 3 homeless," Taylor said, describing Excel Health's clinics in Stephenville, Bramwood and De Leon and the organization's partnerships with local hospitals.
The proclamation presented national statistics about community health centers, noting they provide care to millions and deliver a wide range of services beyond primary care. Commissioners moved to approve the proclamation; the court approved it following a motion by Commissioner Ray and a second from Commissioner Stevens.
The proclamation asks residents to visit local health centers during National Health Center Week and acknowledges community health centers'work in rural and underserved areas. The court did not take additional action beyond formal approval.
