Chief Terry Lemming told the board that on Dec. 13, 2024 Officer Drew was first on the scene of a house fire. The house was fully engulfed and Chief Lemming said Officer Drew, aware an elderly woman lived there, made forcible entry and searched the house; he was subsequently treated for smoke inhalation and helped direct traffic at the scene. The Chief presented a service award and thanked Officer Drew for his actions.
President Meyer publicly recognized Officer Drew during the Jan. 13, 2025 meeting and the board recorded the presentation in the minutes. The Board also discussed related fire-safety follow-ups later in the meeting, including a joint Public Works/Public Safety review of hydrants that produced plans to reposition or repair several hydrants the Fire District identified as problematic.
