Security upgrades approved for Kingsbury County courthouse; camera and fence work to proceed

The county's Security Committee — Register of Deeds Caryn Hojer, Emergency Manager Kristen Longville and Sheriff Steven Strande — updated commissioners on grant-funded courthouse security improvements on April 9 and requested immediate approval to install cameras. Hojer reported that Castlerock will install a fence around the heating and cooling system.
The committee presented a camera-installation quote from Onsight for $32,004.85 and an estimate from Efraimson Electric for $12,138.00. The board approved proceeding with the camera portion of the project on the condition that the vendors remove any prepay requirement, which County counsel or purchasing rules prohibit. Hojer said she had applied for a separate grant to cover push bars, extended glass and window tinting in the clerk’s office; those items will be addressed later in the grant scope.
