Kingsbury County, Riverview LLC approve coordinated study for roads near Redstone Dairy

Kingsbury County commissioners directed Highway Superintendent Dave Sorenson to collaborate with Riverview LLC on a study and timeline for road improvements related to the Redstone Dairy.
"Motion by Nelson, second by Lee to approve the study with Sorenson communicating with Riverview to make sure study would not overlap their plan," the minutes state. Sorenson and Josh Schmidt of Riverview LLC were asked to work together on project scope, engineering requirements and cost responsibilities.
Sorenson also told the board he scheduled a highway bid opening for March 3, 2026 at 9:00 A.M. and reminded commissioners that bids for the 425th Avenue project will be opened on Feb. 24, 2026 at Civil Design, Inc. in Brookings. The board authorized Vice Chairman Lundquist to sign Right-of-Way Occupancy applications from East River for CR11 and CR2 for boring work.
The board approved Sorenson’s travel to a highway conference in Deadwood March 17–20, 2026. Commissioners said Sorenson should coordinate engineering and schedule details with Riverview before the study proceeds.
