The Board received an update on the School Resource Officer (SRO) program from the Public Safety Committee. Administrator Charity Mitchell and Chief Terry Lemming met with the school district to discuss the SRO agreement, which is set to expire at the end of the school year.
Chief Lemming reported that Officer Hanson no longer wishes to serve as the SRO. The School Superintendent, identified as Gaham in the minutes, will provide recommendations to the Village in the coming weeks regarding the district’s expectations for an SRO position. Chief Lemming said he will assess interest from other officers in the department to determine who might serve as SRO going forward.
No formal replacement has been named and no vote occurred at the meeting; the Board awaits the district’s recommendations and the Chief’s staffing assessment.
