Committee approves new park namings, bench plaques and a memorial garden

The committee voted to rename the park at 68 Jackson Street "Bicentennial Park" as a tribute to the women of Lowell and approved a bench/plaque honoring Beau (Bo) James at North Common for his work with youth. Members also authorized development of a carved boulder-style monument at Tyler Park to honor Nancy and Bernie George. Committee members described the motions as celebratory recognition of local contributions and carried each motion with a second and unanimous vote.
Camilo summarized committee intent and the board asked staff to coordinate installation details and plaque text with families and the parks department before construction or carving begins.
