During Q&A, Councilor Victor Davila asked "How much water is dumped into the Connecticut River from the CSO?" Josh Schimmel explained that discharges depend on storm intensity and duration and that the utility measures flow at each CSO and analyzes the data monthly before reporting to the state.
Steven Frederick, director of wastewater operations, offered to share the figures and, during the meeting, stated a monthly total: "we dumped 9000436 and 14 gallons last month of combined sewer overflow." Staff agreed to circulate the monitoring data and historical CSO records to the council for review.
