The superintendent recommended the professional hire of Sonya Hartshorn as assistant principal at Gilmer County High School; the board approved the hire by voice vote. The board also approved service hires (including Christina Minnick as secretary and Matt Stoddard as substitute bus operator) and several extracurricular positions (coaches, SAC coordinators, tutors and advisors).
The board accepted the resignation of Kelsey Hickman, science teacher and head cross-country coach, effective July 21, 2026. Board members publicly thanked Hickman for stepping into the cross-country coaching role last year. Administration noted open postings will follow to fill vacancies before school begins and that special meetings may be required to confirm additional hires.
