Commissioners approve $58,894 ARPA change order for Piedmont Judicial Circuit courtroom AV upgrades

The Barrow County Board on Nov. 12 approved a change order of approximately $58,894 to swap the recording system for the Piedmont Judicial Circuit courtroom upgrades funded by ARPA.
The district court administrator (S12) said the vendor’s initial selection was incompatible with the county’s dated recording system and that the alternate solution keeps the project nearly $2,000 under the $1 million allocation. He also said the change order includes five years of maintenance to avoid returning for maintenance funding later.
The board had no questions and approved the change order on a motion and a second. The administrator noted that the AV upgrades already have been used to provide a media "pool" camera feed during high-profile cases, allowing controlled media access without multiple camera setups.
