River Ridge approves $105,000 plan for solar speed-radar signs and mobile unit

Operations Manager Shane Willis presented AV‑Tech LLC Estimate 24150 for three remaining 15" solar-powered digital speed radar signs and cloud devices; staff also proposed a $25,000 mobile unit. Eric Long said an existing unit "clocked 800 varied speeding violations over a three week period," and suggested moving a unit 20 to 30 yards to improve detection; staff said poles would be purchased for about $1,200 each.
The Board voted unanimously to approve AV‑Tech LLC Estimates 24150 and 24151 to wire and install three permanent and one mobile 15" solar-powered digital speed signs with cameras and messaging, and to pay $1,500 per cloud traffic device per year, for a combined total of $105,000. The Board discussed using the HOA to assume cloud device costs and offset them with covenant traffic fine revenues managed by PSGRC.
The approved package funds hardware, installation and annual cloud service; Board members also noted $150,000 had been budgeted previously for traffic calming. Moving and siting decisions for the mobile and permanent units will be handled by operations staff and PSGRC.
