Tunbridge explores site study and design for four-bay town garage; architect estimates planning at 11–12% of project

Vice Chair Mike McPhetres told the Selectboard the town is considering a new four-bay town garage and has started preliminary planning work with architect Andrew LaRosa.
LaRosa introduced himself and his background and told the board the first step is to study potential sites and determine which building type — wood or metal — best fits the location. He said features used in garages he has worked on have included radiant floors. LaRosa estimated that planning and design would run “about 11–12% of the budget,” and he offered to produce an outline of options for the board.
McPhetres said the town’s target for building is within the next five years and that the board wanted direction on how to begin the process. Road-report contributor Rodney Hoyt asked about how much of the project budget would be devoted to planning; LaRosa reiterated the 11–12% estimate.
Next steps recorded in the meeting: LaRosa will prepare an outline of design options and a site-assessment recommendation; the board did not set a formal schedule beyond stating a multi-year horizon for construction.
