Road foreman warns of mud-season hazards; board votes to post roads

Road Foreman Rodney Hoyt told the Selectboard that "Mud season is here," reporting that one of the town trucks slid off the road because of ice beneath the mud and that the tractor clutch needs repair. Hoyt asked the board to approve bringing in 3/4-inch granite material and said he is still collecting quotes for a new 4-wheel-drive truck to improve winter/mud-season response. He also reported that someone ran into Larkin Bridge; while the bridge structure is not damaged, boards and a beam were moved and will need attention.
Vice Chair Mike McPhetres moved to post the roads to limit use during these hazardous conditions; John O’Brien seconded and the motion passed with "all aye." The board did not set a dollar amount for new equipment at the meeting; Hoyt indicated he will bring quotes for the truck and materials back to the Selectboard for later review.
