Trustee Lindsay presses staff: 'So are we buying it?'; staff says TPL prepared capital
Summary
Trustee Lindsay asked whether OHA would buy the land and what OHA's financial obligations would be; staff replied that Trust for Public Land has prepared capital to acquire the property and that due diligence will define OHA's costs and stewardship responsibilities.

Trustee Lindsay sought clarity on how the acquisition opportunity originated and whether OHA would be the purchaser. "So are we buying it?" Lindsay asked during the committee discussion.
Staff responded directly: "Yes. We're buying it with a stack of capital that's been prepared for this acquisition by TPL," and said the city and Trust for Public Land sought OHA's participation as the landowner. Trustees pressed for clarity about how much, if any, of OHA's own funds would be required and what the long-term maintenance obligations might be; staff said those questions are the purpose of the due-diligence review and will be addressed in the forthcoming report.
The exchange framed the next steps: a due-diligence process (appraisal, title review, environmental and cultural assessments, risk and operations analysis) that staff said will inform both recommendation and any OHA financial commitment. No motion or vote on acquisition or funding was taken at the meeting.
