Emergency services staff (S14) told the board the order would standardize the fleet and spare aging units; if approved, the pumpers have estimated delivery timelines of 27–30 months from order and the aerial apparatus 40–45 months. Staff said locking the order now would save "well over $1,300,000" compared with anticipated future pricing.
Commissioners expressed support for replacing aging equipment and the board voted to approve the purchase and authorize the CFO to exercise the standardization clause. The vote commits a portion of the 2022 SPLOST fire equipment allocation toward these units; staff noted the funds will be utilized when the equipment is delivered and the county will surplus older trucks as units arrive.
