Fairfield’s roads supervisor, Maurice Jettie, presented a quote for a side mower/tractor during the April 27 meeting and described the purchase as a large investment that requires further review by the Selectboard. The minutes do not include price details; board members recorded the need to review the proposal further before any commitment.
Separately, the board read a letter from the State of Vermont Chief Engineer about proposed bridge-priority changes. The letter states that Paradee Bridge is planned for 2028 and that if the town changes priority, Chester Arthur Bridge would not be scheduled until 2033; the letter also said both bridges will continue to be inspected and could be addressed earlier if an emergent situation arises. David Persons said he would call the State to confer about the priorities.
