The Barrow County Planning Commission recommended approval of a special-use application to allow a group personal care home on a parcel on Lackey Road.
Staff introduced RZ2024029, a special-use request under UDC 8969 for map/parcel 1210121171. Justin Greer of Pittman and Greer Engineering, representing the property owners, told the commission the proposal would locate a personal care home on a 5-acre portion of the property while the owners plan to construct a family residence on the remaining parcel. “They are seeking a special use in AG, on a 5 acre portion of the property for a personal care home,” Greer said.
No members of the public spoke in opposition. Commissioners moved to recommend approval with staff recommendations; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote (moved by District 3; seconded by District 2). The record does not list individual recorded roll-call votes.
The commission’s recommendation will be transmitted to the Barrow County Board of Commissioners for final action on Nov. 12.
