The Barrow County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a professional services agreement with John Dean Hart Company, LLC (doing business as TuSai Consulting Services) to lead procurement and implementation of an upgrade to the county's 700 megahertz public safety radio system and a related maintenance contract. County staff told commissioners the project is funded with SPLOST and is expected to take about 24 months.
Presenter staff emphasized the county will provide infrastructure upgrades while municipalities will need to budget separately for new radios. As the presenter said, "the county will have a contract if the cities wanna buy through that contract, and pay for it," and staff explained that the county is not purchasing radios for the cities this time. The board moved, seconded (motion from District 4; second from District 5) and approved the agreement by voice vote.
