Dr. Gonzales, superintendent of the Westfield Public School District, opened the Year 3 strategic plan update video and framed the presentation as a mid-plan progress report for the district's 2023'028 strategic plan. "As we reach the halfway point, it's exciting to look back at how much we've accomplished together," she said, thanking students, staff, families and the Board of Education.
The video summarized work across the plan's five goals: deepening learning through curriculum revision and assessment work; expanding student wellness and mental-health supports; strengthening diversity, equity and inclusion; building community partnerships and communication channels; and advancing facilities and finance projects tied to the district referendum. The update named several partnerships and initiatives, including ongoing collaboration with Rutgers University, selection of InsightHealth as a mental-health partner, a Caine Network DEI partnership, and referendum projects that include kindergarten expansion scheduled to open in fall 2028. The district emphasized continued community collaboration and next steps in implementation.
