Selectboard to check with neighboring Swanton before spending $68,000 paving fund
Summary
With $68,000 remaining in the paving fund after a bidding award, the Selectboard asked Town Administrator Cathy Ainsworth to check whether Swanton will pave its portion of Sweet Hollow and which contractor they will use before deciding whether to pave Fairfield's rough section of Sweet Hollow or continue on North Road. A motion to have Cathy check with Swanton passed unanimously.

Cathy Ainsworth told the Selectboard that after awarding a paving contract there remains $68,000 in the town's paving fund. She presented two options: continue paving work along North Road or use some of the remaining money to pave the rough part of Sweet Hollow, potentially coordinated with neighboring Swanton if they are paving their portion this summer.
Secretary Melissa Manson proposed using part of the funds to pave Sweet Hollow's rough section; Selectboard member Brian Dubie moved that Cathy check with Swanton and then decide how best to use the $68,000. Damian Branon seconded the motion and it passed with all members in favor. Cathy said she would finalize contract details with Whitcomb and also contact Swanton to confirm their plans and contractor.
