Director Lana Payne told the board that progress on the Bay Area Transportation Authority (BATA) non-emergency medical transport (NEMT) pilot has been limited because BATA has been occupied with flooding-related route changes, delaying contract finalization beyond the original mid-July target. Payne said, "Getting the contract finished is the next priority; the original mid-July target has been pushed back."
Separately, Payne reported the transportation-vouchers contract is finalized and will be issued this week to solicit additional cab companies, though the attorneys returned it with heavier insurance requirements. The goal is to add two or three vendors to expand availability for clients who need rides to medical appointments.
