Commissioners flag failed playground inspection, say repairs could cost 'thousands and thousands'

A commissioner told the commission that a state playground safety inspection found multiple defects across town playgrounds and that the inspection paperwork shows numerous failures. “It failed almost every apparatus out there,” Committee member (S2) said after reviewing the report; the file on hand was dated Sept. 11 and referenced a consultant risk service.
Commissioners discussed responsibility for the land and which body should act; Chair said the commission should review the paperwork and then bring the issue to the select board. Committee member (S2) said some repairs look fixable but that restoring safe surfacing and other items could be expensive. “I can assure you that there are thousands and thousands of dollars that we probably take to get it back,” the committee member said. The commission requested copies of the inspection paperwork and agreed to raise the matter at the select board to pursue repairs and funding.
