Commission seeks written clarification of alternate member role after state statute review

Speaker 2 said he would read state guidance and later cited a statutory reference the group should follow.
Speaker 2 read into the record language he attributed to state statute regarding alternates: "The alternate serves and votes on the planning commission when a regular member is unable to attend or is disqualified," and said the appointing legislative body determines the alternate's term. The commission asked the chair to send a note to the select board requesting written language clarifying the alternate’s responsibilities. Chair (speaker 1) said she expected the select board could respond by adding the item to an upcoming agenda if required.
