Planning commission launches overhaul of town bylaws and definitions

Committee member (S3) and Chair emphasized starting with a temporary plan now so the town could apply for grants next year to fund a comprehensive rewrite. The subcommittee plans to compare language used in other towns and adapt sections that fit Stamford’s needs rather than adopt a single outside template wholesale.
The commission did not make a final vote on any bylaw changes at the meeting. Instead, members agreed to continue the drafting process in a series of short subcommittee meetings and to bring completed sections to the commission for review early next year. The chair asked staff to circulate updated drafts and meeting notices by email so commissioners can review material in advance.
