Trudeau said the glider community will arrive June 15 and the airport is preparing pavement reconditioning, line repainting, and repositioning taxiway light reflectors to accommodate wider wingspans. She described outreach to involve youth and families in the event and noted that the AWOS system work was already in progress so the glider group may contribute to other airport needs.
City Manager Dan Jessen reported the pavement‑striping contractor (Straight Stripe) had not yet given a confirmed date and that the work needs to be completed before the end of the fiscal year in June. The Council discussed the potential for glider visitors to contribute to specific airport needs and the near‑term operational priorities for the facility.
