Ludlow council adopts FY 2026-27 budget with unanimous vote

The Ludlow City Council on July 14 approved Ordinance 2026-9, the city's annual budget for the fiscal year July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. City Attorney Zach Smith completed the ordinance's second reading before Councilmember Steve Chapman moved to adopt the measure; David Ziegler seconded the motion and, after a roll call, the motion carried with all ayes.
Councilmembers praised the compromise reflected in the adopted budget. Meagan Guthrie said she believes Mayor Sarah Thompson made a "good faith" effort to meet the council in the middle on the budget and encouraged continued financial oversight throughout the year. David Ziegler expressed appreciation for the work of colleagues and staff, and Paula Graszus thanked everyone for their efforts.
During the discussion Ms. Graszus noted a separate project request: she asked to work with the local school on installing lights at Hollingsworth Field for next spring. The council did not vote on a lighting project at the special meeting; the approved action at this session was the budget ordinance only.
The meeting record shows no public comments were offered during the citizens' portion. The council adjourned at 7:15 p.m. following a separate motion to end the meeting.
