Village board adopts Brown Road and South Oaks Road comprehensive-plan amendment

Trustee (speaker 6) moved to approve Ordinance 7-2026 (CPA-2601), a comprehensive-plan amendment covering Brown Road and South Oaks Road. Planning staff Sam explained the amendment reconfigures proposed roadways to align with an approved preliminary plat, removes connections that are no longer feasible across the Pike River because of restoration projects, and incorporates the village’s Brown/Braun Road reconstruction project, including a proposed roundabout at the Braun–Oaks intersection as part of long-term planning.
Sam said the plan commission found the amendment met the objectives for amendments to the transportation element, land division and zoning ordinances and recommended approval. "The plan commission found that the amendment meets all the objectives and standards for amending the comprehensive plan," Sam told the board. Trustees raised map questions about proposed dotted brown lines and intersection symbols, and staff confirmed the roundabout notation and the conceptual nature of other future connections. The ordinance passed on a recorded roll-call vote; staff said no fiscal impact is expected at this planning stage.
