USD 422 board appoints clerk, treasurer and approves agenda additions

The Board of Education of Unified School District No. 422 met July 13, 2020, in Greensburg for its annual organizational session. Board President Ki Gamble called the meeting to order at 8:01 p.m., and Board member Paul Kendall moved “to appoint Cassie Kirby as board clerk,” a motion that passed 6-0. A separate motion by Darren McDonald to appoint Dana Trummel as board treasurer also passed unanimously.
The board considered and approved three additions to the agenda: an executive session for non-elected personnel, consideration of administrator contract extensions, and approval of a property tax resolution. Board President Ki Gamble then moved that the board enter executive session at 8:03 p.m. under the non-elected personnel exception of the Kansas Open Meeting Act; the open meeting was scheduled to resume at 8:19 p.m., and principals were invited to join the session at 8:13 p.m.
The appointments and the executive-session motion were recorded as unanimous where noted, and the meeting proceeded to address personnel and budget items. No substantive policy changes were made during the procedural appointments themselves; they establish the officers and procedural steps the district will use for 2020-21.
