At the Feb. 8 meeting, President Ki Gamble moved that the board, administration and clerk enter executive session at 8:31 p.m. to discuss teacher negotiation items under the Kansas Open Meeting Act; the board set resumption of the open meeting for 8:36 p.m. and approved the motion. Later, Gamble moved the board and superintendent into executive session at 8:37 p.m. to discuss open positions for the 2021-22 school year under the non-elected personnel exception; the board set resumption for 8:52 p.m., and invited principals to join the session at 8:50 p.m.
The minutes state that no action was taken on a letter of representation with the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB), on consideration of attaching USD 474 territory, or on hiring a superintendent. Principals provided reports on student activities, and Superintendent Staci Derstein reported that the Friends of Education Charitable Trust would not hold a silent auction fundraiser this basketball season. President Ki Gamble declared the meeting adjourned at 9:18 p.m.
