The Colman-Egan School District 50-5 board voted unanimously to accept the proposal provided by Pitts Design Build to serve as the district’s construction manager-at-risk for a proposed athletic complex. The motion to accept Pitts’ proposal was made and seconded after the board reviewed proposals in executive session; members Dan, Jenny, Nikki and Melissa voted “aye.”
Jim Weber, a partner at Pitts Design Build, told the board during the firm’s presentation that Pitts has ‘‘been in business for over 70 years’’ and that the company has used construction management at risk for about two decades. Weber said the delivery method keeps costs transparent and helps teams address unknowns such as varying soil conditions. The board scheduled its next regular meeting for February 9 at 6:00 p.m., where staff will proceed with post-selection administrative steps.
