On curriculum, the principal said the elementary Journeys (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) reading subscription is expiring and staff are reviewing replacement English-language-arts curricula, including a recommendation for Amplify CKLA and consideration of CommonLit for middle and high school. The district also revamped its teacher-assistance team into a student-assistance team that will meet twice monthly to review data and recommend interventions and possible Title I or special-education referrals.
Board members asked about diagnostic tools and interventions for high-school students; administration noted OptiRead Basics and CommonLit assessment packages as options that provide intervention recommendations though some are assessment-only and may not deliver direct remediation without follow-up instruction.
