Residents and IHSS providers press supervisors on mobile-home park charges and one-year IHSS contract

During the public comment period, residents and care workers urged the Board of Supervisors to address local housing and workforce concerns.
Maya Lin, speaking for Save Our Shelter, said residents at Sterling Shores Mobile Home Park face repeated charges for infrastructure such as fences, paving and a seawall while the owner's business brings in substantial revenue. "They bring in $55,000 a month from just us...What are they spending their money on? They're not investing it in the infrastructure," Lin said, asking county staff for a public update.
Vicky Osborne and Simone Tapman, in-home support services (IHSS) providers and members of SEIU Local 2015, said their bargaining team had ratified a new one-year agreement with slightly improved wages but urged the board to pursue longer-term contracts and greater pay to match rising costs of living. "Lake IHSS providers are prepared to stand up for what they deserve," Osborne said. The board passed the IHSS contract approval on the consent agenda earlier in the meeting.
The Chair responded to the comments, telling Maya Lin staff would follow up this week on the mobile-home-park concerns. The public's remarks and the IHSS statements framed later budget and health-care conversations at the meeting.
