Dakota Dunes board approves lower speed limit on part of Dakota Dunes Boulevard pending county review

The Dakota Dunes CID Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to change the speed limit on Dakota Dunes Boulevard south of the Sioux Point Road intersection from 35 mph to 25 mph. Ms. Shanafelt moved the motion and Mr. Wetz seconded; the board recorded a 5-0 vote and directed that the change be discussed with the Union County Commissioners on Sept. 16, 2025.
Multiple other traffic‑study tasks on the agenda were tabled or deferred to future budgeting cycles (intersection operations analysis, traffic circle review, crosswalk enhancements, sidewalk connectivity, traffic calming and intersection geometrics). The minutes record that several of those tasks were to be considered for the 2027 General Fund Operating and Capital Budget or revisited after the I‑29 corridor study is completed.
