Elizabeth Carter and Deidre O'Neil of the Clerk and Recorder's office briefed the board while it convened as the Board of Equalization for hearings held July 16–22, 2026. O'Neil said the referee session covered 395 accounts across multiple property types with 94 hearings conducted; 44 accounts were adjusted, of which 18 were stipulated changes, and 351 were denied (320 administratively denied). O'Neil summarized that staff planned to wrap up hearings on Aug. 3 and provide a final summary at the Aug. 5 meeting.
A numerical discrepancy was raised during discussion: staff initially reported a year-to-date percentage change as "minus 3.7%" but subsequently clarified the figure as "0.37%" when commissioners asked for verification. Commissioner Stevens moved to approve the Board of Equalization referees' recommendations; the motion carried 3-0.
