Senator Codi Galloway (District 15) presented RS 33312C1 to the Senate Judiciary & Rules Committee on Feb. 18, saying the proposal came after a constituent raised an accessibility concern for small disputes. "Raising the limit would allow individuals and small businesses to resolve common disputes—such as repair costs or unpaid bills—more efficiently and without the expense and complexity of full civil litigation," she said.
The committee heard no extended debate on the measure. Senator Wintrow moved to send RS 33312C1 to print; Senator Foreman seconded and the motion carried by voice vote. The committee's action forwards the proposal to the next printing step, where it may be developed into a bill draft for future committee consideration or floor action.
