Committee approves printing of bill to strike outdated mediation rule reference

Jason Spillman, Legal Counsel for the Administrative Office of the Courts, told the Senate Judiciary & Rules Committee that RS 33146 would remove an inaccurate rule reference from mediation records.
"This legislation sought to strike an inaccurate record from a no longer existing court rule. The bill limited the inaccuracy to mediation," Spillman said. The committee voted by voice vote to send RS 33146 to print after a motion from Senator Wintrow and a second from Senator Ricks.
The change described by Spillman is narrow in scope, addressing a mistaken citation in court paperwork rather than substantive changes to mediation practice. Committee members did not record additional debate or vote tallies in the minutes; the motion to print carried by voice vote. The committee then proceeded to other agenda items.
