The Tinmouth Equity and Inclusion Committee agreed July 24 to recommend that the Select Board appoint Ellie Ewing to the committee. The Chair introduced Ewing as an in-person attendee "here to join us," and members said they would forward the recommendation to the Select Board for formal appointment.
Ewing told the committee she and her partner have been coming to Tinmouth and Tinmouth Pond since 1989 and that she has a long career in law and research. She said she was splitting time between locations, retired from legal work and wanted to contribute "to make people feel welcome" and to use her research skills to find resources for equity and inclusion work. The committee indicated it would recommend her appointment by consensus at the next Select Board meeting.
The committee did not take a formal vote on the appointment at the meeting; members framed the action as a recommendation to the Select Board. The Chair said the formal appointment would take place at the next Select Board meeting. The committee also invited Ewing to participate in upcoming projects, including review of the operator's manual and outreach efforts.
