MCPS to end consortia school-choice model as regional programs roll out

During the presentation staff said the consortia model that previously allowed cross-county school choice will be phased out as regional programs are implemented. "The consortia model, which is school choice, that's going away as the regional programs are coming in," a presenter said.
Staff clarified the practical effect: families will continue to be assigned to a home high school by address and may apply only to regional programs hosted in their assigned region. The presenters also noted that Thomas Edison High School of Technology and the Seneca Valley Career Hub remain separate CTE application sites that students may still apply to under existing processes.
