MCPS says it will benchmark program quality, recruit teachers and provide student supports

MCPS staff told the audience they plan to protect program quality while scaling pathways across regions. "We're making sure that they're done, to the same fidelity," said Peter Orstrander, who described work with schools and program leaders to prepare host sites and preserve standards from existing magnets.
Staff said recruitment and staffing will involve human resources and partnerships with local colleges to attract qualified teachers and student-teacher placements. Presenters emphasized student supports: older students will mentor younger students, schools will offer study skills help and targeted academic interventions, and students who choose to leave a pathway may return to their home high school rather than be retained in the host building as a permanent placement.
