MCPS: regional program transportation will use centralized stops, not door-to-door service

Montgomery County Public Schools confirmed transportation will be provided for students admitted to regional programs but said it will rely on centralized stops rather than neighborhood door-to-door service. "Transportation will be provided. Just it won't be the door to door transportation or the corner to corner...it'll be how we currently offer that transportation, which is through centralized stops," Ebony Lankford Brown said.
District staff said centralized stops may be at school buildings, libraries or county-owned community facilities and will typically pick up more students per stop to reduce overall ride time. Presenters also noted that some regional sections will have between about 30 and 60 seats, increasing countywide capacity but creating logistical trade-offs for routing and stop locations.
