Court authorizes pavilion rental for large Labor Day weekend event on Sept. 5

The commissioner’s court authorized a pavilion rental at the county fairgrounds for a Labor Day weekend event planned for Sept. 5 and granted permission for onsite sales. The organizer, identified in the agenda as Dominic Rolfes, told the court the event will likely draw well over 1,000 attendees and include a concert and barbecue cook‑off.
Commissioners and the organizer discussed permitting, liquor licensing, insurance and security; the organizer said he was prepared to pay overtime and arrange security as required. The court approved the rental request after a motion and second with the expectation that applicable permits and preapproval for alcohol sales would be obtained in advance.
